All
surgical procedures performed on a patient by surgeons
are classified under different groups as per WHO guidelines.
This grouping is an international standard and used
all over the world with some minor modifications peculiar
to certain geographies/countries. Many governments
have made it compulsory to maintain records as per
this classification. Classification as per these guidelines
is mandatory where health insurance is active. As
this standard runs into several pages, doctors are
in need of a tool to help them classify procedures
